Social Clubs for Veterans

Do you have photos of veterans standing outside of their club? I'd like to help identify the people in the photos. Send a scan via e-mail or a duplicate picture to the address listed above. I'm looking for stories about defunct Erie clubs such as the G.A.R., the 313th Machine Gun Battalion Company and former V.F.W. and American Legion clubs.

  1. My great uncle Robert E. Arnold was in the 313th M/G Battallion in WW1. His barbershop on 19th and Peach had a WW1 machine gun in the window for many years. Across the street from the barbershop where "The King's Rook" stands/stood...there is a brass plate embedded in the side walk that was put there when that building was the private club for the 313th. Unfortunately I have no photos of Robert "Earl" Arnold. Mr. Arnold was also president of the Erie Barber's Union for many years.
